Bread from ScratchMA Thesis 2012 at Lund University
Bread is one of humans oldest and most democratic foods, equally eaten by rich and poor all around the world. It has become a symbol of food itself. In a world of industrialized food production this project is highlighting the manual process of how this most essential every day food is made.
Bread from Scratch is a collection of six objects that are each representing one stage in the process of making bread. The collection consists of a mill to grind flour from grains, a jar to cultivate sourdough, a bowl to mix the ingredients, a board to work the dough, a paddle to handle the loaves and an oven to bake the bread.
